Amber Alert Update: Children found safe inside stolen car

Update — Cathedral City Police said two missing children were found safe in Desert Hot Springs at 2:40 a.m. Friday, still inside a vehicle stolen Thursday night.

The two brothers were found by Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies in the parking lot of Grace Church along the 17400 block of Bubbling Wells Road.

A suspect in the theft and abduction was still at large and was not found at the location.

The car was towed away at around 3:30 a.m. for processing by Cathedral City Police.

An Amber Alert has been issued for two boys who were abducted in a car theft.

The brothers, ages one and two years old, were in the backseat of a white 2016 Honda Accord when an unknown suspect stole the vehicle.

Cathedral City Police tell KESQ & CBS Local 2 that it’s “all hands on deck” to find the toddlers.

Jayden Cortez is a 1-year-old Hispanic male, 1 foot 5 inches tall, weighing 30 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Jayden was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue shorts

Carlos Cortez is 2-year-old Hispanic male, 2 feet tall, weighing 40 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, wearing unknown clothing.

The boys were last seen in the car outside of a home on the 31000 block of Whispering Palms.

Police say the owner of the car is a babysitter who had stepped out of the car momentarily when they came back the car was gone.

The car has tinted windows and California license plate numbered 7TJR654.

Cathedral City police released a recent picture of the stolen car.
