Palm Springs Aerial Tramway closed all day Friday due power outage

UPDATE: As of 5 PM, officials at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway expect the tram to be reopened tomorrow morning at 8 AM.

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is closed Friday morning due to electrical issues, officials confirmed to KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2; this coming after the tram was closed Thursday afternoon when heavy wind gusts created hazardous conditions for visitors.

Thursday afternoon, more than 300 people were at the top of the mountain trying to make it back down.

“Whoa. It was exciting and it was scary but you get such a great view. A lot of people were nervous because it got stuck halfway but it was great. It was exciting,” Lee Lovitt said.

Friday’s closure was said to be an electrical issue. KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 is looking into the problem, but it’s very likely the issue is stemming from all of Thursday’s heavy wind damage.
