Indio apartment tenants complain of terrible living conditions

Tenants of an apartment complex in Indio say they are dealing with a nightmare at home.

People living at the Desert Villa Apartments said they have had to deal with terrible living conditions, such as cockroach infestation and mold. Some said cockroaches walk over them and bite them while they sleep.

When the issues are brought up to the manager, they claim a permanent solution is never found or they’re dismissed saying the issue would be solved eventually.

One tenant said that after months of complaints they were served an eviction notice without reasonable cause.

“I feel victimized, we are all here trying to make a living,” said Alejandro DeJesus, the evicted tenant.

DeJesus says he has filed a complaint with the city of Indio.

We reached out to the manager of the complex for comment but she declined to speak to us.
