Construction continues on Interstate 10 near Cactus City
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) continues work on the $95 million Interstate 10 Pavement Rehabilitation Project. The project rehabilitates 124 lane miles of pavement in both directions of I-10 between Cactus City and State Route 177 (SR-177) junction.
Pavement work will be on the westbound direction and guardrail work will be on the eastbound direction of I-10 between Cactus City Rest Area and the SR-177 junction. The eastbound and westbound I-10 will be down to one lane Monday through Friday.
From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on various dates on and off-ramps in the area will be closed.
Caltrans is alerting the trucking industry and motorists to be alert and reduce their speed through the entire construction zone and lane closure area. Pavement is uneven and the size of the lanes are reduced. Shoulder access is limited and not available in some areas.
The reflective markings and rumble strips were removed to allow for paving so drivers must take extra caution to be alert and well rested when traveling along I-10.
