CCHS students view solar eclipse
Some Cathedral City High School got the opportunity to see Monday’s solar eclipse, after sometime in the classroom to learn all about eclipses.
Teachers prepared students a week before the celestial event in lessons created by three teachers. The students looked at live feeds from other areas of the country, and modeled how an eclipse happens. The interactive course is what Martha Hunter, a teacher at the high school, hopes will give her students an appreciation of eclipses through the lens of different people around the world.
The students went out to the school’s soccer field to take in the view of the solar eclipse. There were mix reactions to the show in the sky, but some were in awe. “I was really excited, cause I really didn’t think this would happen in my freshman year,” says Emmanuel Pierre.
Some students say after seeing this partial eclipse, they would eventually like to see a total eclipse. They’ll have an opportunity to do so in Texas, in the year 2024.
