Los Angeles teacher accused of having sex with student, faces Coachella Fest drug charges
A Brentwood private school chemistry teacher accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student will have to face a judge in Indio, due to unrelated drug charges during Coachella Music Festival.
45-year-old Dr. Aimee Palmitessa, who teaches chemistry Brentwood School, was arrested Friday and booked on a felony statutory rape charge. She posted $230,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned next month in that case.
Palmitessa was scheduled to appear Tuesday morning in an Indio courtroom on a possession of ecstasy charge. Court records show she was cited inside the festival grounds on April 22, the last day of the Coachella Valley Music Festival. She was released the same day after allegedly being found in possession of the drug in two aluminum bindles. Tuesday appearance has been continued to September 26th according to court officials.
Palmitessa is due in court in downtown Los Angeles on Sept. 15 for arraignment on the rape charge, according to jail records.
