Two people arrested for stealing mangos from local farm

Two Thermal residents are accused of stealing produce from local farms.

Police booked 25-year-old Carlos Alvarado and a 59-year-old Maria Arciniega into the Riverside County jail in Indio Wednesday. They’re charged with felony theft.

Police had been investigating recent thefts from farms in Thermal, Oasis and Mecca.

Wednesday, sheriffs say they stopped the suspect’s vehicle and seized more than 400 pounds of freshly picked mangos stolen from a local farm.

Alvarado was was also wanted on an outstanding felony theft warrant.
