Man and woman plead not guilty to Rancho Mirage robbery
A man and woman who allegedly robbed a Rancho Mirage Home Depot and assaulted a store employee were charged with robbery, grand theft and receiving stolen property Wednesday.
Dominic Michael Battiato, 33, and Paige Alisha Groves, 27, were arrested in connection with the 6:30 p.m. August 30 robbery of the Home Depot at 34249 Monterey Ave., according to sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Garcia.
Deputies say the duo stole merchandise then assaulted an employee before leaving with the stolen goods, which included tools and an air compressor, according to a criminal complaint. It was unclear if the employee was injured.
Battiato was arrested the following day after deputies served a search warrant at a home in the 46800 block of Jackson Street, while Groves was arrested a few hours later near Madison Street and Highway 111, according to jail records.
At the time of her arrest, Groves was out on bail for an alleged vehicle theft.
Both Groves and Battiato, who remain held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, pleaded not guilty to all charges Wednesday afternoon. They will return to court on September 15 for a felony settlement conference.
