Severe storm leaves more than 1,000 customers without power overnight

More than 1,200 Coachella Valley residents were without power Saturday night. According to Southern California Edison, there are two separate outages.

One outage located north of North Palm Canyon Drive, west of South Palm Canyon Drive, south of Murray Canyon Drive and east of Caliente Drive left 1,089 customers in the dark.

A second outage near Palm Canyon and La Verne, had impacted 141 customers.

The cause of both outages is under investigation. SoCal Edison originally said it expected power to be restored by 8 p.m. in both cases. However, they extended to outage until 1 p.m. Sunday.

These outages followed a large outage in Palm Springs on Saturday morning.
