“We have 25 teachers still displaced today (Tuesday). We had 4 rooms cleared and will have one additional teacher return to her classroom tomorrow. We have a few more rooms that will be ready for mold testing this evening. The results from those tests will come mid-morning tomorrow so that teachers will be back in those rooms Thursday. Today they’re cleaning up while 600 students impacted rotate classrooms &#lt;a href=”https://t.co/JafQjelMvT”&#gt;pic.twitter.com/JafQjelMvT&#lt;/a&#gt;&#lt;/p&#gt;– Lauren Coronado (@KESQLauren) &#lt;a href=”https://twitter.com/KESQLauren/status/907348126482272257″&#gt;September 11, 2017&#lt;/a&#gt;&#lt;/blockquote&#gt;n&#lt;script async src=”//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js” charset=”utf-8″&#gt;&#lt;/script&#gt;”,”width”:550,”height”:null,”type”:”rich”,”cache_age”:”3153600000″,”provider_name”:”Twitter”,”provider_url”:”https://twitter.com”,”version”:”1.0″}
Principal Ryan Woll and his staff worked to make a rotating schedule.
“Each teacher teaches five periods out of a six period day, so that leaves classrooms that are vacant, so when I say we have traveling teachers, we have some who are moving from first period in one class, second period in another. But you have to do what you have to do to make sure class is still in session,” Woll said.
Staff are using extra rooms, like the library, cafeteria and multipurpose room. Air and moisture tests are happening all week long to ensure the rooms meet safety standards.
“If any one piece was missing, it would have been a mess, but with everyone doing their jobs so well and being professional, it’s doable,” Woll said.
Some rooms will be open tomorrow, others will require more maintenance.
Meanwhile, one of the hardest hit Palm Springs communities were cleaning up after the storm. About 30 homes flooded.
“I was shocked. The water was rushing down at 30 miles per hour, if not faster,” Stephen Trevisone, one home owner said. Trevisone faces about $15,000 worth of damage.
