Two students hospitalized after eating pot brownie

A Yucca Valley man is in custody for child endangerment after two middle school students had to be taken to the hospital after eating a pot brownie that was obtained from the man.

On Wednesday shortly before 9:30 a.m. deputies from the Morongo Basin Station responded to the La Contenta Middle School, for a report of a student who suffered a drug overdose.

Deputies found that a male student had brought a marijuana brownie to school and shared it with a female student.

School staff say they were exhibiting signs of being under the influence of drugs, leading the school principal to call for paramedics.

Both students were transported to a local hospital for evaluation and were later discharged.

During the investigation, the deputies discovered the male student had access to 36-year-old Timothy Baker’s marijuana and marijuana brownies, which he brought to school.

Deputies located Baker, at his residence, where they found approximately two pounds of marijuana and several marijuana brownies. The marijuana was within easy access of children and posing a danger to their safety.

Child and Family Services responded to the residence and took two children into custody.

Baker was arrested and booked at the Morongo Jail for child endangerment. He is being held on $100,000 bail.
