KJ Magwood Morton is someone you don’t want to mess with on the football field, but off the field is a different story.

“Before every game I do a quick prayer that I will do my best and my team will do their best. We all can come out the game safely and for the other team to do their best.” said student athlete of the week KJ Magwood Morton.

After the final whistle blows, the beast mode switch gets flipped and it is President KJ Magwood Morton.

“Senior class president, pacific islander club president, president for track, boys scouts I recently received my Eagle Scout.” Morton said.

A resume building and a football stat sheet filling.

“My grandmother is immobile so I try to do my best as if she was there. She cant come to my games so I want people to text her on her phone or on facebook and say your grandson had a touchdown or tackle.” Morton added.

“When he gets the football, he gets to the endzone. Leads as a middle linebacker, leads the team in tackles, he blocks, he catches, he is just an outstanding football player.” Head Coach Ernest Martinez said.

This senior will likely play college ball at BYU next fall.

“If I don’t get a scholarship from them, or even a partial then I’ll just walk on for fun. That was my whole plan for it in the beginning.” Morton said about BYU.

He had a tough childhood and that redirected his future to someday leading a drug enforcement agency.

“When we were younger it broke me and my family apart and we had to go house to house. For my older brother it was a little harder but for me luckily, her name is Rhonda Morton, she was able to pick me up and it helped me a lot in my future. I would not be who I am without her.” Morton finished.

So you better look out because KJ Magwood Morton is coming both on the football field and in life.
