LifeStream hosts Nine Cities Blood Drive Challenge awards

LifeStream blood bank hosted their Nine Cities Blood Drive Challenge Awards on Wednesday morning in Palm Springs.

The award ceremony was held during the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership Board of Directors meeting in the Stergios Building at Desert Regional Medical Center.

This year’s blood drive had the best turnout compared to previous years.

“We collected 892 units of blood this year which was the largest we’ve done in the five years that we’ve had the nine city challenge,” Dr. Rick Axelrod President and CEO of LifeStream Blood Bank said.

Axelrod says the drive is a way to make sure there is a steady stream of blood donors every single day to meet the needs of the Coachella Valley.

“In our region we need 75 donations a day to make sure every need of patients in the Coachella Valley are fulfilled.”
