Indio woman searches for answers after her dog’s mysterious death

An Indio woman is searching for answers after her dog died from what appeared to be a snake bite, now she believes foul play may be involved in her pets death

Last Friday morning, Indio resident Cecilia Ornelas found the family dog with a large bite to its mouth. She rushed the dog to the Veterinarian who said the dog tested positive for poison, but that it was not snake venom.

“I talked to multiple people who said their dogs get bitten by rattlesnakes but it never bleeds, and the venom just spreads up and it just gets swollen. So how is it that it destroyed his face,” Ornelas said.

Cecilia’s father filed a police report but so far we have not been able to learn if anything has come of that.

There have been no reports of anyone doing anything to harm other dogs in that area.
