CVUSD looking to fill looking to fill empty board seat

The Coachella Valley Unified School District Board is looking to fill a vacant seat, after a former member stepped down for lying when he submitted his nomination papers last year.

This week, the district board voted to appoint a new member to fill the vacancy left by Francisco Becerra.

Last week, Becerra plead guilty to submitting false papers.

CVUSD said anyone interested in running for the vacant seat, which covers the Oasis and Salton Sea areas, can contact CVUSD’s superintendent’s office at (760) 399-5137 ext. 8101166. A candidate information sheet will be provided after calling,

Applicants must live in Trustee Area 3, must be 18 years of age or older, a citizen of California, a registered voter and may not be an employee of the district once they are sworn into office.

The deadline to submit is Wednesday, October 4th at 4:30 pm.
