Yucca Valley man leads police in high speed motorcycle chase

A Yucca Valley man was taken into custody after leading deputies on pursuit reaching speeds up to 140 mph on Thursday.

It happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. after deputies from the Yucca Valley Police Department attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle in front of Yucca Valley High School.

The motorcyclist was speeding in front of the school and crossed over double yellow lines to pass a school bus.

The motorcyclist failed to yield to the emergency vehicle and fled at high rate of speed, triggering a pursuit throughout the Morongo Basin.

The pursuit lasted approximately 30 minutes covering 44 miles, and speeds in excess of 140 MPH.

The pursuit ended at the intersection of Indio Ave and Buena Vista Dr in Yucca Valley.

The motorcyclist, 20-year-old Ted Dumas, was taken into custody and booked at the Morongo Basin jail for felony evading and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
