UPDATE: Motorcyclist severely injured in Cathedral City collision

A motorcyclist was severely injured following a collision with a truck in Cathedral City Tuesday night.

It happened along the 22600 block of Palm Drive near the I-10 Palm Drive interchange.

According to a press release by the Cathedral City Police Department, a motorcyclist collided with a light-duty truck on Palm Drive near the Chevron gas station.

After examining physical evidence and speaking with witnesses at the scene, officers determined that the motorcyclist was hit by the truck as they were merging into the road from the entrance of the gas station

The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital with severe injuries.

The accident is still under investigation and there is no fault yet determined for the collision.

Northbound lanes of Palm Drive were closed for several hours following the accident.
