Man sent to hospital after accidentally shooting himself in Cathedral City

A man had to be taken to the hospital on Monday afternoon, after accidentally shooting himself with a gun, according to Cathedral City police.

It happened around 1 p.m. near a business in the 68100 block of Ramon Road in Cathedral City.

When officers arrived at the scene they found the man had a single gunshot wound to a lower extremity.

After a preliminary investigation, officers determined the man shot himself accidentally while manipulating the gun.

He was taken to Desert Regional Medical with non-life threatening injuries. His condition is unknown.

Officers were not able to find a weapon at the scene.
