Local classrooms celebrate “Read Across America Day”
Schools throughout the Coachella Valley honored Dr. Seuss with “Read Across America Day”
Friday marked legendary author Dr. Seuss’ 114th birthday and schools honored him by reading.
Numerous members of the KESQ/CBS Local 2 family helped students celebrate the occasion.
News Channel ‘s Chief Meteorologist Haley Clawson celebrated Doctor Seuss’s birthday by reading “O Say Can You Say, What’s the Weather Today” to students at Valley View Elementary in Coachella.
CBS Local 2 anchor Brooke Beare read to Ms. Cooper’s kindergarten class at George Washington Charter School in Palm Desert. Former Palm Desert Mayor Van Tanner read in the classroom right next door to Brooke.
KESQ News Channel 3 Morning anchor Bianca Rae read to students at Carrillo Ranch Elementary School in Indio.
KESQ / CBS Local 2 reporter Lauren Coronado got a chance to read to 3rd and 6th-grade students at Cesar Chavez Elementary in Coachella.
One of Cathedral City’s finest also took the time to read to students at Cathedral City Elementary School.

Cathedral City Police Chief Travis Walker wore the timeless “Cat in the Hat” white-striped hat while reading “Green Eggs and Ham” to first graders. Cathedral City Mayor Stan Henry was on-hand to turn pages with Walker.
