Registration open for infectious disease conference in Palm Springs

Registration is open to local health managers and providers for an April 19 conference in Palm Springs on the latest trends in infectious diseases such as the Zika virus.

The Inland Empire Infectious Disease Conference for Prenatal and Pediatric Providers will get underway at 8:40 a.m. at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Topics include a clinical and epidemiological update on Zika and discussions on prevention of infant pertussis and congenital syphilis.

“Those who attend will receive the most up-to-date information on trends and treatment for infectious diseases,” said Barbara Cole, director of disease control for Riverside University Health System-Public Health.

A second conference will be held that afternoon at the Loma Linda University Centennial Complex in San Bernardino County.

“I encourage providers to take this opportunity to get more information on these important infectious diseases that affect pregnant women and infants,” said Dr. Maxwell Ohikhuare, health officer for San Bernardino County Public Health.

The deadline to sign up is next Tuesday. To register, visit
