Incumbents pull ahead in Rancho Mirage City council election

The first results are in on the Rancho Mirage City Council election.

According to the Riverside County Registrar of Voters, the three incumbents, Dana Hobart, Iris M. Smotrich, and Charles Townsend Vinci, are ahead.

So far 5,236, or 52.85% of the ballots cast have been counted. There are 9,908 total registered voters in the city.

Hobart leads the total votes, with 3,651 (24.91%) votes. Smotrich has the second most votes with 3,342 (22.80%) votes Townsend is slightly behind with 3,327 (22.70%) votes

Kates Spates is the highest ranking challenger with 1,956 (13.35%) votes Robert Mueller has 1,390 (9.48%) votes Michael Harrington has 989 (6.75%) votes

The rest of the votes are still being counted, as some postmarked votes from today are still arriving. Winners will be officially declared next week.
