Parents of woman killed near Coachella Fest suing Goldenvoice

The parents of an 18-year-old woman who was killed two years ago outside the Coachella Music and Arts Festival in Indio are suing the festival’s parent company, Goldenvoice, TMZ reports.

On April 15, 2016, Micha’la Freeland was killed after she was hit by a car while she was crossing Avenue 52, east of Monroe Street, near the festival.

Police said she was crossing the street in an area outside the crosswalk when she was hit by a Jeep Cherokee. Freeland was pronounced dead at Eisenhower Medical Center a short time after the accident.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Freeland’s parents are suing Coachella for her wrongful death, claiming their daughter was struck on an unpaved dirt road and that the festival failed to provide temporary pedestrian barricades, fences, lighting, warning signs, and other safety provisions.
