Palm Springs post office to relocate due to expiring lease
Tthe U.S. Post Office in Palm Springs is in need of a new home now that their land lease with the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians is about to run out.
The post office, currently located across the street from the Spa Resort Casino, has two and a half years to relocate.
Friday, officials held a public meeting on the proposed relocation and to explain to the community why the move is needed.
“We’ve known for years that the tribe has had plans to expand the hotel and the casino operation so they need this property for their expansion plans,” said Dean Cameron, a real estate specialist.
Cameron said the relocation search area is between Vista Chino, Ramon Road, Gene Autrey Trail, and South Palm Canyon Drive. The public still has 30 days to submit written comments for the postal service’s consideration prior to them making a final decision.
