Turpin parents planning Oklahoma move before arrest

On January 14th, a 17-year-old daughter of David Allen Turpin and Louise Anna Turpin escaped the family’s Perris residence. The daughter notified authorities of the horrific conditions which her and her 12 siblings were being held under in the home and her parents were arrested shortly after that.

The arrests couldn’t have been more timely. Multiple sources have told ABC News that the Turpins were planning to move the entire family to Oklahoma “within days” of the arrest.

“There were boxes in the house consistent with moving — concentrated in hallways, entryway and bedrooms,” one source told ABC News.

It is not clear if the 17-year-old daughter’s escape was motivated by the planned move. The Turpin family had moved multiple times in recent years, once in California and twice in Texas.

David and Louise Turpin are currently facing a long list of charges, including 12 counts of torture, 12 counts of false imprisonment, 7 counts of abuse of a dependent adult, and 6 counts of child abuse. David Turpin also faces one charge of conducting a lewd act on a child by force or fear.

On Wednesday, the court barred David and Louise Turpin for contacting their children for three years.
