Pedestrian dead after being struck by vehicle in Indio
A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Avenue 48 and Madison Street in Indio.
The crash was reported just after 3:30 p.m. The westbound lanes of Avenue 48 will be shut down for several hours as officers investigate, according to Indio police.
The pedestrian, a male of unknown age, originally suffered major injuries before being pronounced dead in hospital.
Police confirmed the driver stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators.
