Man suspected of starting six fires arrested

LA QUINTA, Calif. – Riverside County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man in La Quinta on Friday who is suspected of starting six fires.

Deputies arrested John Hupp, 32, behind a Home Depot near the intersection of Highway 111 and Jefferson Street.

Hupp was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Center on suspicion of 10 felony counts, including arson of property and arson of a structure or forest land.

Authorities did not specify what fires they suspect Hupp of starting.

Hupp is being held on $70,000 bail.
