Alleged thief caught on camera trying to run over employees while fleeing scene

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, yesterday at around 4:50 p.m. deputies received a report of a petty theft at the Autozone near Monterey and Dinah Shore.

Deputies received a second report minutes later, with witnesses saying the alleged thief, an unidentified woman, was attempting to run employees over.

The woman fled the scene before police arrived but the incident was captured on video by a former police officer.

In the video, you can see the woman pushing store employees before she turns and tries to knock the cell phone out of the hands of the man filming.

Autozone employees told KESQ & CBS Local 2 that the woman stole multiple items from the store. When they followed her outside, she ditched the goods. and tried to get away. Keith McDonough, the former officer used his car to block the alleged thief and recorded everything on his cell phone.

“That was me just telling her I wanted to make sure she knew she can’t say she did something without knowledge. If she hits the lady with the car. She hit me I told her if she does it is assault and she kept running the lady over and she parked the car on top of the one clerk’s foot,” McDonough said.

Autozone management told KESQ & CBS Local 2 that nothing in the store is worth their employees being hurt over.
