SIG ALERT: I-10 backed up in Palm Desert & Indio
UPDATE: A SigAlert was issued at 8:17 a.m. for both east and westbound Interstate 10 at Washington Street in Palm Desert and Indio due to numerous traffic collisions and stopped traffic.
Eastbound and westbound Interstate 10 traffic was backed up through Palm Desert and Indio Thursday morning due to Caltrans construction and four freeway collisions between Cook Street and Washington Street.
The California Highway Patrol reported a collision involving a Toyota Tundra and Chevrolet Cruz at 7:24 a.m. There was no immediate report of injuries, but an ambulance was called to the scene.
At 7:35 a.m. a collision was reported westbound west of Washington Street involving drivers in a gray Toyota Corolla and a silver sedan.
At 8:01 a.m. a third collision was reported with two vehicles in the center divide westbound just west of Washington Street.
At 8:15 a.m. a fourth collision was reported eastbound Interstate 10 just east of Cook Street. No injuries were immediately reported.
Eastbound traffic was backed up for approximately four miles from just east of Cook Street to the Jefferson Street Interchange in Indio.
A collision was also reported Monday in Caltrans construction traffic back up on Interstate 10 east of Washington Street.

Road construction was backing up traffic past Washington Street eastbound on Interstate 10 in Indio Thursday morning.
Two of the freeway’s three eastbound lanes were closed just east of the Jefferson Street Interchange as Caltrans crews work on concrete repairs.
The eastbound Jefferson Street off-ramp was also closed to traffic.
Eastbound freeway traffic was backed up for more than two miles to just west of Washington Street.
Westbound traffic was not being impacted by the road work.
Take an alternate route to avoid this slowdown if you can.
