Gang member arrested after foot pursuit in Coachella

A documented gang member was arrested on multiple charges after he led police on a foot pursuit in Coachella Friday, authorities said.

Members of the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force conducted an operation at 3:30 p.m. in the 52000 block of Dos Palmas Avenue and spotted Giovanni Huerta, who fled on foot from the location, according to Sgt. Paul Heredia of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies caught up with Huerta, 23, of Coachella, a short distance away and he was arrested for an outstanding drug warrant, probation and gang injunction violations, gun and drug charges and delaying a police officer, Heredia said.

He was booked at the Indio Jail.
