Coroner identifies 89-year-old woman killed in golf cart crash

The Riverside County Coroner has identified an 89-year-old woman killed in a golf cart crash in Palm Desert Friday.

Genevieve Hornak of Palm Desert was pronounced dead at Eisenhower Medical Center nearly two hours after being involved in a crash that caused her to be thrown out of her golf cart.

The crash happened inside the Palm Desert Greens Country Club Friday at around 3:50 p.m.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the woman was in the golf cart traveling eastbound on Desert Greens Drive inside the country club. When Hornak attempted to turn left onto Chimney Flats, she collided with a vehicle traveling westbound.

At this time, it is unknown if alcohol/drugs were a factor of the collision. Investigators are still working to investigate the cause of the crash.
