Alleged drunken driver arrested for major injury Palm Desert crash

An alleged drunken driver was in custody today on suspicion of running a red light, triggering a three-vehicle major-injury crash in Palm Desert.

Andre Rosales, 32, of Coachella, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol following the collision, which occurred about 6 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Fred Waring Drive and Tow Center Way.

According to sheriff’s Sgt. Brent Irvine, Rosales was heading east on Fred Waring Drive when he ran a red light at Town Center Way and crashed into two vehicles.

The sergeant did not specify how many people were injured, but said “major injuries were sustained as a result of the collision.”

Rosales was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, where he was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
