Man killed in house fire near Desert Hot Springs identified

The Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau has released the identity of a man killed in an early Sunday morning fire near Desert Hot Springs.

The fire was reported at 4:22 a.m. on the 17000 block of Angel View Trail in the area of Desert Edge.

42-year-old Carlos Arteaga of Pasadena died at the scene of the fire at approximately 5:08 a.m.

Upon arrival, the first engine company reported seeing a single-story, single family residence with the roof on fire. 30 firefighters and eight engine companies were able to contain the blaze by 6:04 a.m.

One firefighter sustained a minor injury while working to contain the blaze, was treated at the scene and released.

The fire is under investigation.
