Olivia Colman will receive the Palm Springs International Film Festival’s top actress honor at the 2019 festival for her portrayal of Queen Anne in “The Favourite,” festival organizers announced today.

Colman has received numerous accolades for her performance as the British monarch, with Best Actress wins from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and British Independent Film Awards, as well as nominations from the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards, among others.

Festival Chairman Harold Matzner said Colman “steals the show as a frail and aloof Queen Anne, whose attention is being sought by two scheming cousins” played by Stone and Rachel Weisz.

“For this superb performance, that has received much critical acclaim and awards recognition, it is our honor to present the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress, to Olivia Colman,” he said.

Past recipients of the award include Halle Berry, Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Marion Cotillard, Julianne Moore, Natalie Portman, Saoirse Ronan and Charlize Theron.

Other previously announced 2019 Palm Springs International Film Festival award recipients include Glenn Close, who will receive the Icon Award for her performance in “The Wife”; Rami Malek for his portrayal of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in “Bohemian Rhapsody”; Melissa McCarthy, who will
receive the Spotlight Award for “Can You Ever Forgive Me?”; director Alfonso Cuaron, the Sonny Bono Visionary Award recipient for “Roma”; and Bradley Cooper, the Director of the Year award winner for “A Star is Born.”

Regina King will receive the Chairman’s Award recipient for her role in “If Beale Street Could Talk”; Spike Lee will accept the Career Achievement Award, and the cast and director of “Green Book” will be presented with the Vanguard Award.

The festival runs from Jan. 3-14. Tickets are available at www.psfilmfest.org .
