Car catches on fire after DUI crash in La Quinta

A car caught on fire after a crash involving a DUI driver in La Quinta.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the crash was reported at before 4:30 p.m. on Avenue 50 and Washington Street.

Deputies said the intoxicated driver, identified by police as Christopher Graf, 58, was traveling westbound on Avenue 50 when he rear-ended a vehicle, causing that vehicle to rear-end another vehicle. Witnesses at the scene told News Channel 3 Graf’s car caught on fire after the crash.

Graf was transported to the hospital for a medical evaluation. Deputies said once he is medically clear he will be booked into jail for driving under the influence of alcohol.

No other people were hospitalized.
