18-year-old transient arrested for La Quinta home break-in

A man was arrested Monday night after attempting to break into a residence in La Quinta.

According to the La Quinta Police Department, a woman reported that an unknown male was trying to enter her home on the 51400 block of Avenida Mendoza through her bedroom window.

Officers arrived and detained Jaime Arrambide-Benitez, 18, a transient of Coachella, while he was standing in front of the home.

According to LQPD, Arrambide-Benitez told officers he opened the window and entered to look for gold or jewelry.

Benitez was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on charges of felony first-degree burglary and is being held in lieu of $35,000 bail, according to jail records. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
