Car gets pushed into canal near Mecca

A Riverside County Sheriff’s Underwater Search & Recovery Team recovered a car that was submerged in a canal near Mecca.

The incident was reported Tuesday morning near 70th Avenue and Cleveland Street.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the owner of the vehicle parked their car and went for a run. When they returned, the car was in the canal.

Officers believe the car was pushed into the canal, rather than driven in.

CHP says the investigation remains ongoing. Stay with News Channel 3 for any updates.
