Four blood drives hosted across the valley to address low supplies

Four blood drives offering an array of gifts for donors from massages to theatre tickets will be held throughout the desert today in response to low blood supplies.

Two drives will be held in La Quinta with the other two in Palm Springs, Don Escalante of LifeStream said. Details for each event are listed below:

The La Quinta High School drive, located at 79-255 Westward Ho Dr., will be held from 7:45a.m. to 1:45 p.m. The Benjamin Franklin Elementary School drive, located at 77800 Calle Tampico in La Quinta, will be held from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Desert Water Agency drive, located at 1200 Gene Autry Trail in Palm Springs, will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m The Palm Canyon Resort by Diamond Resorts drive, located at 2800 S. Palm Canyon Dr. in Palm Springs, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The drives offer a variety of gifts to participating donors, ranging from a complimentary 1-hour massage to a chance to win a pair of tickets to “Tarzan,” the musical at the California Theatre for the Performing Arts, San Bernardino if they mention the code “TARZAN” at registration.

Donors must be at least 15 years of age, though donors under 18 must provide written parental consent. Parent consent forms are available at the drive or at www.LStream.org.

Prospective donors must be free of infections or illness, weigh at least 110 pounds and not be at risk for AIDS or hepatitis.
