Firefighter suffers minor injuries after battling Rancho Mirage attic fire

A firefighter was injured battling a second-alarm blaze that broke out in the attic of a home in Rancho Mirage Saturday.

The fire was reported at 7:39 a.m. at a 4,000-square-foot-property in the 72000 block of Verbenia Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The injured firefighter was taken to a hospital with a minor wound, and no other injuries were reported.

It took 50 firefighters nearly an hour and a half to knock the flames down, though no residents were displaced, a fire official said.
