American Cancer Society hosts 30th Desert Spirit Gala

The American Cancer Society hosted their 30th Desert Spirit Gala Sunday night at the Heckmann Estate in Rancho Mirage.

More than 500 guests dressed in 20s attire, showing their support. The event featured several speakers, live music, a silent auction and emotional testimonials.

“There’s been many times where a child has cancer and the community just embraces that child and helps them out as a whole there’s been influential people in the desert who have had cancer and then this community, American Cancer Society, embraces them as a whole to help them out. During that time when you have cancer, and you’re going through those different things, the different treatments and so forth…you need that support,” said Sean Webb, the Co-Chair for the Desert Spirit Gala.

Event organizers say they expect to raise over $200,000 for cancer research at Sunday’s event.
