Desert X exhibit near Salton Sea disappears
The Desert X exhibit “Halter” has disappeared, organizers discovered this afternoon.
“Halter” is located at an old gas station on Highway 111 and Grapefruit Boulevard in Mecca. Created by artist Eric Mack, the exhibit was covered with colorful fabrics.
Organizers told News Channel 3 that when Desert X’s artistic director went to exhibit today at noon, those colorful fabrics were gone. When organizers saw the exhibit Sunday, everything was up and normal.
Organizers are trying to figure out what happened. On Tuesday, organizers will return to the site to take photos and gather more information then file a police report.
