3.1 magnitude quake strikes near Anza overnight

A small and shallow earthquake struck Riverside County today, according to a computer-generated report from the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblor struck at 1.55 a.m. at a depth of around .6 of a mile, its epicenter was approximately 6.2 miles east southeast of Anza and 17.6 miles south-southwest of Rancho Mirage, according to the USGS.

The quake’s magnitude was recorded at 3.1.

17 people reported feeling the quake and reported it to the USGS using the USGS Community Internet Intensity map. According to the map, people ‘felt it’ as far north as Big Bear Lake and as far south as San Diego.

One respondent reported feeling the quake in Palm Springs.
