Paramedic killed in Palm Springs motorcycle crash, procession held

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash involving a sedan in Palm Springs this morning.

The man killed in the crash was identified as Eddie Lustro, 34, a Palm Springs American Medical Response paramedic. Officials said Lustro was fresh off a 12-hour shift before his death.

A procession was held for Lustro starting shortly before 12:30 p.m.

South Gene Autry Trail was closed between Mesquite Avenue and Seven Lakes Drive in Palm Springs due to the fatal crash investigation. The roads were reopened at around 2:30 p.m.

The driver of the sedan is cooperating with law enforcement.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Gene Autry Trail and Dinah Shore Drive at 8:33 a.m. The road will remain closed for the next several hours.

It is unclear at this time what caused the collision. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
