Man arrested for shooting gun in air in Palm Springs

A Desert Hot Springs man was arrested in Palm Springs Monday night for shooting a gun several times in the area, according to a release from the Palm Springs Police Department.

PSPD officers responded to a residence on the 3500 block of Paseo Barbara at 9:50 p.m. for reports of shots fired and a woman screaming in the area.

Upon arrival, they discovered that a couple had engaged in a domestic argument and that during said argument, “the male half, identified as Stuart McRobert retrieved a handgun and fired several shots into the air”, according to the release.

McRobert, 42, was found at another location by PSPD officers and taken into custody without incident. According to jail records, he was arrested at 1:19 a.m. on Tuesday and booked into Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning at 6:10 a.m. He is being held on $10,000 bail.

He faces a felony charge of discharging a firearm in a negligent manner. He is set to appear in court at the Larson Justice Center in Indio on March 28.

Officers recovered the firearm from McRobert’s car.
