Palm Springs High School student advances to national Shakespeare competition

Congratulations to Cameron Keys!

Keys is in his junior year at Palm Springs High School. In February, he won first place at the regional English-Speaking Union Shakespeare Competition, advancing to the national competition in New York City at the Lincoln Center next month.

Allyson Boylan, theater director at PSHS, says this is the first time in over ten years that a student from the district has competed at this level.

In 2018, Jackson Dean from Palm Valley High School went on to the National Competition and won against more than 50 other competitors.

Keys has been acting since he was nine-years-old in shows like Lost in Yonkers (Desert Theatreworks), Expressions (Desert Ensemble Theatre Company), Yellow (Palm Canyon Theatre), Bye Bye Birdie (PSHS), and David and Lisa (PSHS).

You can also catch Cameron Keys in PSHS Theatre Company’s upcoming production of Cheaper By The Dozen from April 5 – 7 at the Richards Center for the arts.
