2nd cannabis music festival in DHS announced for October

Tyson Ranch, Mike Tyson’s 420-acre entertainment complex, cannabis research, and design facility off Varner Road in Desert Hot Springs, will host a cannabis/music festival hybrid in October, the second one at the location this year.

Festival promoters announced The KIND Showcase at Tyson Ranch, will take place from Thursday, October 10 to Saturday, October 12. The original KIND Music Festival back in February headlined by Miguel and A$AP Ferg was only one day.

The festival is not only expanding in days but also in its approach to cannabis.

Promoters are calling this festival a “three-day consumable cannabis experience” and said this will be the first-ever event to combine a music festival with a direct-to-consumer and business-to-business cannabis vending and lifestyle convention.

In addition to the outdoor stage for music, the KIND Showcase will feature what promoters are calling “the world’s largest temporary structure” which will offer a comfortable air-conditioned experience for festival-goers 21 and over.

The 755 ft long x 135 ft wide x 55 ft tall structure will allow guests to be able to browse through several hundreds of cannabis vendors and activations.

At the first festival, attendees were allowed to use cannabis inside festival grounds, however, marijuana products were not available for sale. In a Q&A posted on the Kind Fest website, Showcase Promotions founder Brandon Finney mentioned consumer sales as part of the festival.

Showcase Promotions is a cannabis exhibition company that partnered with KIND promoters to put on the October festival.

Additional details, including possible headliners, when tickets will be available, and vendors, will be available in the coming weeks. Finney mentioned they are bringing in some “big name artists to wrap up each night.”

We have reached out to Desert Hot Springs city representatives for further details on the new festival from the city’s side, however, we have yet to hear back at this time.

Desert Hot Springs Mayor Scott Matas spoke with News Channel 3 Wednesday about the city’s partnership with Tyson Ranch.

“Tyson Ranch has been nothing but partners with us since they got here,” Matas said.

Matas also praised Mike Tyson’s involvement with the city, citing some of his contributions to the community.

“He’s been nothing but a partner with his group and now they’re committing to one or maybe even two events,” Matas said.
