Two hospitalized after crash near DHS

Two people were hospitalized Wednesday morning after a traffic collision near Desert Hot Springs.

The crash was reported at 8:18 a.m. near the intersection of Kris Avenue and 19th Avenue. Witnesses on scene told California Highway Patrol officers that a black car ran a stop sign hitting a truck. The crash remains under investigation.

It is not known if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.

According to Cal Fire, extrication was required to help patients from a vehicle. The two people hospitalized suffered moderate injuries.

The crash forced a closure of the intersection. According to CHP, the roads are expected to open soon and the scene will be cleared.
