Riverside County reaches 93 coronavirus deaths, cases grow to 2,960

Riverside County health officials provided the latest update on coronavirus cases, deaths, hospitalizations, and recoveries over the last 24 hours.

The total number of cases has jumped from  2,847 to 2,960. That's an increase of 113 cases in the past 24 hours.

The number of deaths went from 85 to 93. There is no info on the latest deaths, including, location or age. County data shows that most of the deaths have been males. Moreno Valley has an increase of 2 deaths today.

There are 240 patients currently hospitalized, 72 of those patients are in the ICU.

757 patients have successfully recovered so far.

31,928 patients have been tested so far at the county’s four community test sites, clinics, hospitals, and other locations.

Riverside County opened a fourth testing site in Perris last week. The other three are located in Indio, Riverside, and Lake Elsinore.

Last week, the county expanded testing to allow residents who don't have symptoms can schedule an appointment to be tested.

Riverside has the most cases in the county with 496, as well as the most deaths in the county with 16. Moreno Valley follows suit on both categories with 308 cases and 13 deaths.

Indio has the most cases in the Coachella Valley with 106. Palm Springs has the most deaths in the valley with 9.

• 5 to 17: 66 cases
• 18 to 39: 830 cases
• 40 to 64: 1,019 cases
• 65 to 79: 424 cases

Cases by Gender:

The doubling rate for Riverside County is currently 8.7 days. That means it would take nine days for cases to double. This is a big increase from the previous data that showed our doubling rate at 4.6 days, showing the promising results that protective measures like staying at home, covering the face, and testing are having.

As part of continued efforts to grow the doubling rate and "flatten the curve" of coronavirus, Riverside County public health officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser ordered everyone to wear a face-covering when leaving home, including essential workers.

Face coverings can be bandanas, scarves, neck gaiters or other clothing that does not have visible holes.

This order runs through April 30.

Riverside County announced reopening of the county's golf courses, as well as some outdoor activities, with restrictions on Monday.

Palm Springs then announced that it will continue to follow its own health order and keep golf courses closed.

If you are feeling symptoms, health experts say to call ahead and notify your healthcare provider.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, coronavirus symptoms may include:

• Fever
• Cough
• Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
• Chills
• Repeated shaking with chills
• Muscle pain
• Headache
• Sore throat
• New loss of taste or smell
