The center opened with safety precautions in place, in line with the statewide guidelines issued by Governor Gavin Newsom.
"We're very optimistic because we know with all the time that people spent inside quarantined they're looking to get back outdoors," said Patrick Klein, general manager of Gardens on El Paseo.
Officials also announced steps to ensure customer health and safety:
- Cleaning and disinfecting the center throughout the day, and after-hours, with a focus on high-touch, high-traffic surfaces
- Using a stronger disinfectant when available
- Encouraging the use of masks where it is not already mandated by local, state or federal laws
- Using signage and decals to help customers with social distancing
- Offering hand sanitizer at designated stations
- Turning off drinking fountains
- Removing furniture and/or resetting seating areas in our common areas to allow for greater social distancing
Stores will also be placing signs on their doors encouraging the use of face coverings and social distancing between customers.
On Friday, Riverside County officials announced that the county was giving the okay to move into accelerated stage 2 reopening. This stage allows in-dining restaurants and malls to operate, however safety modifications needed to be made.
