Residents evacuated after a gas leak at Thousand Palms community
10 homes have been evacuated after a gas leak at a community in Thousand Palms.
According to Cal Fire, the accidental gas line rupture occurred on the 74000 block of Stage Line Drive at approximately 1:18 p.m.
No injuries have been reported.
SoCalGas staff are at the scene working to mitigate the leak. Riverside County Sheriff's deputies are also on-hand helping residents evacuate.
Unfortunately, the valley is currently under an excessive heat warning. According to News Channel 3’s morning and noon meteorologist Patrick Evans, highs are expected to top out near 112, tying a record set in 1968.
