Deaths and Recoveries
The county reported 10 additional deaths since Thursday, bringing the total to 1,007.
Riverside County reported 110 fewer recoveries since Thursday. The total number of recoveries went from 41,323 to 41,213. We have reached out to the county to better understand why recoveries went down. Brooke Federico, the county's public information officer, told News Channel 3 there was an error in counting previous recoveries.
"We're working out the new process for recoveries, and found some incorrect data that inadvertently included in the recovery report. We checked our new way of calculating cases and have corrected it. The issue is resolved and should not result in incorrect cases be listed as recovered going forward," Federico wrote.
On Wednesday, the county reported an additional 12,362 new recoveries, this came after the recoveries between Monday and Wednesday.
Brooke Federico, the county's public information officer, told News Channel 3 that the delay was due to a change in the way recoveries are calculated. Now, RUHS will include cases in which health officials have been unable to reach the person after 45 days of attempted follow up. This can be due to missing or changed contact information or a patient who doesn't answer or call back.
Hospitalizations
Riverside County reported three fewer patients hospitalized for coronavirus since Thursday. This brings the total number of hospitalized patients to 223.
